Ribble Canoe Club is a large but friendly club with members whose interests range across a wide spectrum of canoeing and kayaking. The club is based in Preston and draws people from all the surrounding areas. We welcome new and existing paddlers interested in training or pursuing the sport of canoeing for competitive or recreational purposes.
On Friday evenings we make use of the large pool at Fulwood Leisure Centre starting at 9:00pm. These nights are planned well in advance (see either the News Letter or the Calendar pages, accessible from the Home Page), and include specific training courses, polo practice sessions, or a more general free session where members are free to 'do their own thing' (within reason!) within a controlled and safe environment. All sessions are supervised by both Leisure Centre staff and qualified Club members.
Training varies from organised training sessions with our own BC qualified coaches to informal paddles depending upon time of year, level of ability and objectives of individuals. Please visit our Training page for more details of what is available and dates of forthcoming training sessions. Whether you don't know one end of a canoe (or even kayak) from another, or have already started down the BC Star qualification scheme, we will be able to help you (probably!).
If you wish to talk to us about joining the Ribble Canoe Club, or simply want to find out a bit more about canoeing, then either contact our Membership Secretary , our chairman Graham Kingaby, or come along to one of the events mentioned above. You will be made very welcome.
